GREENPORT — A bicycle rider whose bike collided with a truck in Greenport refused medical treatment, according to Columbia County 911.

The unidentified man was hit by the passenger-side mirror of a pickup truck, said Greenport Fire Chief John Onufrychuk Jr.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, which investigated the accident, did not provide any details Thursday.

On Wednesday, at about 3:46 p.m., Columbia County 911 sent Greenport Fire Department and Greenport Rescue Squad to Fairview Avenue in the area of Delaware Avenue, after receiving reports of the accident.

Paramedics evaluated the man at the scene, who refused further treatment.

Greenport fire officials determined that fire apparatus was not needed.

Traffic on Fairview Avenue in the area of the crash was slowed with small backups at times.

A Life Net helicopter placed on stand-by was not needed.

State police assisted sheriff’s deputies at the scene.

All firefighters were back in service at 3:57 p.m.
